Instead of averaging 23.2 miles per week (or 3.3 miles per day), it has been 3, 24, 18 and 16 miles for a 15.25 weekly average in November. However, that first week was before I enacted the new plan. Discounting that week, it has been 19.33 miles per week -- still short no matter which way you count it.
Thanksgiving was a success. Other than that, November was not a great month. It seems I've been fighting off a cold every other week. The weather has conspired against me. The beers have been too tasty. The whiskey has kept me too warm. It has been too easy to just say no to
I don't feel like suiting up. I do feel lame.
There are 31 days left. Running 3.75 miles per day will get me to 1,000 for the year.

Just FYI: I have one last chance - this coming Saturday - to shave my 5K rather than grow its beard. I may fail again - which will give you more to laugh about - but I'll take comfort in the knowledge that, come 12:00:01 a.m. January 1, I'll be able to come here and taunt you for not having met your goal of running 1000 miles in 2008.
And if, at that time, you are still fighting your cold, or have succumbed to it entirely ... well, that'll just be gravy.

how do you figure excuses are like nipples? like you use them until they are sucked dry then you move on to another nip... i mean excuse?
I don't know if you've realized this yet but if one day you go out for a 8 mile run then you'd be able to take the next day of for a booze induced recovery; better yet go for a 12 mile run and you could start a bender!
You can totally get to 1000 for the year!
With all that alcohol in your bloodstream, I'm surprised viruses have been able to live at all!

Oh, come on, running with a hangover is good for you! Or better yet, set up a beer stop at home and do some loops and drink while you run. Beer=carbs after all LOL.
beer, it's not just for breakfast anymore. but that doesn't make it a bad idea.
push it some, and you can totally get to 1000 miles on the year. throw in a few long days, and you'll get there.

I know how you feel! November was a terrible mileage month for me, and I've been really sick. It has been way too easy to embrace the hard cider and ignore the marathon in May.
Don't be so hard on yourself. You ran more than I did in November and I'm in the middle of marathon training.
