Flashback Friday: New Obsession

Push-ups. Just push-ups. Every day push-ups. In the morning push-ups. Throughout the day push-ups. In the evening push-ups. Regular push-ups. Close-grip (aka diamond-grip) push-ups. Pseudo push-ups. One day, one-armed push-ups. Nothing else but push-ups.

Ever since your devilish host embarked on the quest to master the one-armed push-up, I've been obsessed. Before getting ready in the morning, I've completed a set of one-armed planks and a set of push-ups. Then after each visit to the bathroom throughout the day, I do another set. When I get home, another set.

All told, I must average 50-some push-ups per day.

While the one-armed push-up still eludes me, progress has been noticeable.

Back Talk
Wherein we welcome new teammates

Breandan thought he was alone but catches a break: "I'm glad to have come across your blog -- I thought I was the only banjo playing, drinking and running blogger out there!"

Answer: Now there are two of us.

Happy Hour is nearly upon us, teammates! Have a finely brewed weekend. Run well and drink well. Cheers!

You should contemplate an hour of power. The goal is to hit 500 pushups in one hour. You get there by doing 10 pushups per minute for the first 30 minutes, then 7 pushups per minute for the last half hour. I've heard of people ramping it up to do 610 pushups in one hour. insane. I'd be happy with 100.

I get that way with situps. I work on core strength so much for tri training that it just doesn't feel like I wear out doing regular situps anymore. Pushups will get boring before too long. Cheers! and happy anniversary!
