They Make Fun Because They're Jealous

Razz, Vanilla and Nitmos (and sorely lacking Amy) have a new LoungeCast at the Runners' Lounge blog. And, boy howdy, this thing is a real doozy. These guys prove once again that they are the Keystone Cops of podcasts.

But thanks to me, this so-called "Laugh Tracks" isn't a total bust. In the second segment, Vanilla answers the question I posted on his blog, which helpfully encouraged better content for the podcast and boosted his comment tally.

And now, I will helpfully bestow mercy on all of you -- provided you haven't already listened to the LoungeCast. Allow me to ruin the best part:

Vanilla: "This question comes from Viper ... yadda, yadda, yadda ... he asks, 'How do you re-tie your shoes mid-race without slowing down?"'

Razz, Nitmos and Vanilla: "Yadda, yadda ... Velcro ... yadda ... regurgitate Runner's World ... yadda, yadda ... tie your shoelaces better beforehand ... yadda ... double knot ... yadda, yadda, yadda ... we all agreed this was a stupid question."

Thanks for avoiding the question guys. You said nothing about mid-race procedures for re-tying your laces. I bet Amy would have had a better -- and funnier -- response. Good news for you, dear readers, is that this segment is relatively early in the podcast. After the break for the "running lexicon," the rest is virtually unlistenable.

Viper, you are a humanitarian! Thanks for saving me those precious minutes, which I will now use to figure out how to tie my shoes while running...

Because of the time zone difference, I had already listened to the Three Stooges belittling you and had a good laugh at it before you'd even woken up. Good times.

I think you should join them on the podcast one of these days. It would be great entertainment for the rest of us listening to you guys tearing each other apart.

Admittedly, it was a tough question. A real riddle. If anybody has solved it, let me know. My usual MO is just to trip all runners who try to pass me why I'm retying; the next best thing to not slowing down myself is slowing everybody else down.

(Oh, heck, I trip other runners even when I don't have to stop...)

You try to help a guy out by answering his dull question on the podcast and this is the thanks you get?

I think it's time you went out and bought some Stone Brewing Arrogant Bastard.

What I want to know is: when are YOU going to join the snarkfest and inject your own surly brand of humor into the proceedings? Haven't you had enough of Nitmos and Vanilla taking the piss at your expense?

You can't tie your shoes right the first time around?!

@ Sun Runner (nee Sarah): I've had plenty of Arrogant Bastard, and on tap too. I wouldn't want to join a club that would have me as a member.

Lotta changes going on chez moi, Viper. All for the better.

I did it just so I could fuck with you and make you think your readership increased to an even dozen. ;)

Need I remind you you voluntarily joined the "I finished a marathon" club? You're in that one whether you like it or not, my friend. Cheers!

I liked the part where we called your question stupid.

Thanks for the Cliff notes. Now I have to go find another podcast for my long run this weekend.

You know...growing up my parents always tried to tell me "They only make fun b/c they're jealous". However, I eventually learned that's just a big lie. Apparently you haven't learned that lesson yet. :-)

These podcasts are WAY better when you read all the shit talking that goes on before and after. I hope other Runners Lounge people know that.
