Just Got Snowed

Well, running is out of the forecast for now as Northeast Ohio digs out from under yet another snow storm. We got about nine inches on top of the snow that has lain on the ground for most of the month.

This is the longest time I can remember this much snow being on the ground. Usually, we get these storms and in a week or so it melts away.

But, as I said, this has been an unusual winter. Ohio is two inches away from eclipsing the snowiest January in history, the infamous Blizzard of 1978.

My car wasn't as buried as it was last year in March, but it still took me an hour to get it moving from my on-the-street parking spot. Let's just call it cross training.

Runner's World Gets Wise
Today, Mark Remy of Runner's World's RW Daily professes the merits of Scotch and morphine as a pain reliever. Well, no shit, Mark. That's not a new concept. If you'd ever listen to me, you'd know that booze reduces pain and improves confidence. Morphine is just an added bonus.

I agree. This winter bites. It's been one thing right after another *sigh*

I wasn't around for the blizzard of '78 (I lived in California) but I remember the Blizzard of March 1993. That was a hell of a storm. Then there was the massive snow dump the day after Christmas 1993. We got 24 inches in Ch-Land. I remember shoveling the top foot of snow off our driveway just so my dad could get the riding lawnmower-snowplow through the heaps. The drifts in our front yard were up to my waist. It was crazy.

Stay warm & dry!

I remember the blizzard of '78. Somewhere we have photos of little tyke me poking my head out of a dangerously built snow fort with my brothers. Nowadays, that photo would be used as evidence to put my folks in the slammer.

Yeah, it hasn't been too bad around here lately, but overall, this winter really sucks. It seems colder and windier than usual. (Windier?? More windy?? I have no idea.)

But does morphine help combat the pain of an extended, snowy winter the way alcohol does?

Weather is dandy here in South FL. It's 84 degrees today.

But aside from bragging, I do want to compliment you on your correct use of "lain" in the present perfect tense. All the forms of both lay and lie give most people a while lotta trouble. So, congrats, you win the "grammar gold star" of the day!

I have got a lot of similar cross training in also. It sucks.

Ha. I laugh reading about all you northerners and your cold weather...and then I complain when the weather here gets below 35 degrees. (Which it did...for a WHOLE WEEK!) Have fun in the snow. Hope you're doing lots of drunken sledding (it was always my favorite activity in college).

Just got another email from my folks. Its unbelievable that you are getting this much snow in a long time. My father got stuck in the snow in a long time and he said that it was hell of a good workout by shoveling an extra hour around the car.

Get prepare for massive flooding once all the snow melt in your area!

Wow I would go nuts if I had all the snow you did. I'm getting annoyed at the snow that's been around for four days here.
