Flashback Friday: Overcoming Demons

We each have our demons. We struggle to make a come back. We want to lose weight. We fight self doubts. We purge past health problems. We ask running to be our cure.

Now into our second week of our training for the Akron Marathon Relay, Mrs. Viper and I are experiencing the challenge. Both of us have been away from running for an extended period of time. It's difficult to remember how improvements come.

A step forward. Two steps back. Why does a three-miler today feel harder than it did last week?

Running can't always be easy, but it can be rewarding. When you're in the middle of a slogfest, you're too close to the situation to recognize the benefits you'll gain from the experience.

We're three weeks from race day. While we're taking precaution to avoid doing too much too soon, we both have goals to achieve and obstacles to overcome.

Back Talk
Wherein we're a bit one-sided

Dave wants to know about the other arm: "I assume you have two arms. What are you doing with the other one?"

Answer: Isn't that what love handles are for, holding onto with one hand are while the other one tries to do a push-up?

Programming Note
You'll have to wait until Wednesday to hear from me again. Monday is Mrs. Viper and my first anniversary. Yes, she managed to deal with me for one whole year. We're heading back to the scene of crime one year ago and spending the night in the same fancy hotel. It's true that I have the best wife there is.

Happy Hour is nearly upon us, teammates! Have a finely brewed weekend. Run well and drink well. Cheers!

Wait, I thought I had the best wife there is?

Now that I think about it, she's gone a lot. What's your wife's name anyhow?

I'm sure Mrs. Viper is a fine wife, but my husband has THE best wife in the world!

Happy anniversary!

I thought this was a comic book blog.

I finished Buffy Season 8 Vol 1. Vols 2 through 4 just arrived. When do I share my deep thoughts on the matter?

FWIW, there is a madly cackling drunken lady at the adjacent table at my local Mexican joint. Could it be that she reads Nitmos's blog?
