Flashback Friday: Hunger Games

This whole week I've been restricting my diet. Eating a light breakfast of oatmeal and a lunch of a modest sandwich with a spinach salad every day, despite warnings of too much oxalate, I have managed to shed some pounds, staying below 175 all week.

My goal weight is 170, but 175 is the upper limit of healthy BMI for my frame.

At the beginning of the week, I have gotten home from work with massive hunger pangs, but then started to get used to reduced food intake. Now, if only I can make it through the weekend without gorging myself.

I have a two more runs planned this weekend, an eight-miler (likely on trails) and another of three miles. Saturday's weather forecast looks perfect for visit to the Buckeye Trail, but I'll have to avoid thunderstorms Sunday.

Back Talk
Wherein we're too cheap even for cheap solutions

Spike wonders about my idiotic race preparation: "I've often heard that runners intentionally tie their laces tighter on race day, I do. Is that not something you subscribe to?"

Answer: Absolutely not. I prefer my shoes loose, although the knot itself is tight and doubled to avoid untying.

Nitmos chides me for my home workout: "No stretchy bands? tsk tsk It's the Cadillac of cheap home exercises."

Answer: Funny thing about those stretchy bands. I broke mine a few months ago. Prior to leaving for Salt Lake City, I bought a new set only to discover they were pre-broken for me. I returned them, but refused to exchange them for fear of their poor quality. So I am stretchy band-less.

Happy Hour is nearly upon us, teammates! Have a finely brewed weekend. Run well and drink well. Cheers!

Here's free a tip (the best kind) from one cheapskate to another: never throw away the box. The bands will eventually break...then you just exchange them. You can keep that going for a few years until the box, which says something about "Product of the Year, 1999", becomes to obvious.

Interesting fact--did you know the manufacturer of most of said stretchy bands is based in Akron (Hygenic Corp.).

Have a great weekend!
