Ladies and gentlemen of the Booze Hounds, a break in our regular programming is nigh. Next week, Mr. and Mrs. Viper are headed for a little alone time in upstate New York for our honeymoon. And apropos of Flashback Friday, our destination is one we've visited before: Cooperstown, N.Y.
Exactly three years ago, my new bride and I took our first vacation together as a couple to the quaint town that gave birth to our national pastime. And while American football has usurped baseball in popularity, it will never measure up to the slow-paced game of balls and strikes, bunts and home runs, strike outs and double plays.
In addition to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Cooperstown is also the birthplace of author James Fenimore Cooper and home to the Fenimore Art Museum. The town has a number of great restaurants, antique shops and natural attractions. But perhaps most importantly, Cooperstown has beer and wine, with Brewery Ommegang and Bear Pond Winery located nearby.
For those new to the site, Ommegang is perhaps my favorite brewery. The company's stock of beers has never disappointed my palate.
And so it goes. We'll be incommunicado for the next week. I hope you enjoy you time away from Team BHI. As always, Happy Hour is nearly upon. Have a finely brewed extended weekend. Run well and drink well. Cheers!
