You will notice in the coming days advertisements appearing on this blog. My apologies to your sensibilities, but I'm curious to see if it's worthwhile. If the ads become a nuisance, I will remove them.
I have them on my blog too and it takes time... but I have noticed that when the ads actually pertain to my blog (running/triathlons), that they get clicked more often...
I know what you mean... I was wary of adding adds to my own blog, so I put them toward the bottom and sides (easier to ignore for those who are not interested).
I finally gave it a go when I realized that I didn't mind side-panel ads on other blogs.
My biggest ad-related blog pet-peeve is when bloggers endorse products under the guise of a "review" without disclosing that they're either getting paid for the "review" or that they received the swag for free. (If they disclose, pet-peeve averted.)

So many people have them, I think we're all desensitized, so don't sweat it.
Only top shelf booze ads, please. ;)
I have AdBlock install so I won't even notice them :)
