January was a much improved month with the start of the Enthusiast's half marathon training, but the last couple weeks were tough with bitter temperatures and what seems like non-stop snow. Oh well, I'm sure by Friday the weather will be Spring-like. Here is January's statistical rundown:
- Total Miles: 26 miles (eight runs)
- Highest Weekly: 10 miles
- Average Weekly: 6.5 miles
- Average Pace: N/A (no watch used)
- Longest/Fastest Run: 3 miles @ ~9:00 pace
- The Monthly Dif: +13 miles (13 miles in December)
All but one of my runs was with the Enthusiast, who has been using a GPS app on her phone to track our runs, but I'm trying to encourage her not to pay attention to time in these early stages of training, especially with a thick layer of snow to slow us down.

You guys are getting lots of it, that's for sure. Here, we don't get nearly as much, but the kids have far more snow days than in Ohio. Drives me crazy!!
It's coming down pretty hard here in Champaign, too. I'm thinking speed work is out of the question for a little while...
I plan on hitting the streets of Cuy Falls as long as the ice doesn't come. Snow = yes, Ice = No! Come'on Spring!
Ugh, the weather sucks. But, having a live-in training partner helps you make it out on cold winter days.
You guys have certainly had a tough winter! One of these days it'll be spring for ya!
The weather has been super frustrated around here too. I'm hoping Feb. bring some milder temps or at least less snow!!
I think it is awesome you all are running in that crap.
Be careful running in the snow out there dude. Don't hurt yourself.
In the same boat here, but I prefer running in the snow ice slush freezy rainy stuff than on a treadmill. It definitely keeps one for doing too much speed training though. Sunday's looking ok weather wise though.
