Flashback Friday: Weather Watcher

I don't think I've ever been so addicted to the weather forecast as I have been the past two weeks. I keep going to Weather.com to see the 10-day prediction in hopes of a break in winter's tough offerings lately.

Finally, there is a two-digit number that starts with a four, which we're supposed to see by the middle of next week. Even this weekend holds the promise of temperatures above freezing.

It's time for the winter running hiatus to end.

The Enthusiast and I have been following the hibernation plan for her training for the Cleveland Half Marathon. We established a base and then let it simmer for two weeks while we waited for the weather to improve.

Finally, the temperatures seem to be turning in our favor. Can you believe I left home today without gloves and my wool cap? Maybe that varmint was right about his prediction last week. I won't hold my breath, but I will hold onto my hope.

Wherein we host a pity party.

Misszippy reinforces the Enthusiast's and my nice little break: "Every season has its purpose, and winter is for rest! Yes, she'll make the 1/2 just fine, like you said. Stay warm!"

Answer: Thanks for the encourage. I've finally come to grips with winter being a rest season, but it's tough on the psyche to miss my regular runs.

Robin has lost hope in the outlook for nice weather: "I've given up checking the temperatures -- I've yet to see a number I like. Hang in there for the Enthusiast -- there's plenty of training time till CLE half!"

Answer: Further proof that I'm not misleading the Enthusiast when I tell her she'll be ready to go come May 15.

Happy Hour is nearly upon us, teammates. Have a finely brewed weekend. Run well and drink well. Cheers!
