This Is No Time to Lose the Mojo

Where oh where the fuck is it? My running has fallen off like a soggy beer label. Motivation is a foreign word.

The weather is perfect. My last race was kickasstastic. The Akron Marathon is 15 days away. My legs feel great. These should all be great reasons to be running. But I'm not.

Lethargy is prevailing. A run after work? Meh.

It's times like these that you have to create a little carrot in front of you. Think up a reward for doing your run and when you finish it, you get the reward! I think a drink would probably serve nicely.

Jess: Yeah, but Viper is going to drink anyway.

You could say you're experimenting with a fewer-mile taper and not run.

Or, you could take this as an opportunity for some Break Through The Wall training. When you get home, don't think about it and don't give yourself a choice. Get your running togs on and go. There might be a point in the marathon when you're not going to want to run, too.

Welcome to taper madness.

Think about that sub-four-hour marathon you're going to run. That's your carrot. Go for it.

Don't blow all that training by doing nothing!

All you need is three quick miles a day every other day. That'll make sure you're still ready for the big show!

Go rent "The Marathon," "Chariots of Fire," "Pre," etc. Watch them one after the other and see if you don't want to get out there.

I'm with misszippy ... but my choice would be Invincible with Mark Walberg

I suggest you go rent Season 3 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Also, get your sh*t out there and run you slacker. (Sorry, I had to channel my inner Ian there.)
