Akron Marathon Countdown: Plan 9

One less day. Nine to go. I like nines.

The year in which I was born ends in a nine. The street number to my childhood home was all nines.

Nines are all over my favorite sport. Nine players on a baseball field. Nine innings. The greatest hitter of all time, Ted Williams, wore nine. So did Bill Mazeroski, who hit the game-winning homerun in the 1960 World Series, in the bottom of the ninth, with the game tied 9-9.

Nine is also the number of this month, on the last Saturday of which I'll be running the Akron Marathon, which you already know is in nine days.

Nine is also the number of minutes per mile I'm aiming to average to break four hours. I'll be on Cloud Nine if I can do that, dressed to nines.

Today's comments must have a nine.

You can always celebrate by having 9 Magic Hat #9's. You should request bid number 9 for the race?

You should have nine beers after the race. I suggest Bell's Batch 9,000.

Let me guess, your favorite song is "99 Bottles of Beeron the Wall"?

Also, my birthday is 9-9. Add that to the Ted Williams thing you already mentioned and I've always worn number 9 in any organized sports that I've played.

Anyway, best of luck in that marathon. I like Sun Runner's suggestion of 9 beers after the race, perhaps while watching the Browns rush for 9 touchdowns.

That is a backslash not an uppercase i in that final line. The italics just screwed it up:

Right-handed people live 9 years longer than left-handed people (of course, I wasted time googling this)...

I believe you should prep for your marathon the day before by watching nine hours of Get Smart - featuring Agent 99...
