By the Power of Rolling Rock: "33"

You ever get these weird bits of coincidence? While reviewing my August mileage, I saw that I surpassed my previous highest month ever (133 miles in August 2008) by 33 miles. The number 33 makes me think of Rolling Rock. On Sunday, I saw a man running in a Rolling Rock T-shirt with "33" emblazoned on the front. What does it all mean?

Here is August's statistical rundown:
  • Total Miles: 166 miles (20 runs)
  • Highest Weekly: 40 miles
  • Average Weekly: 33.2 miles
  • Average Pace: 10:26.98 per mile
  • Longest/Fastest Run: 20 miles, 10:19 pace
  • The Monthly Dif: +34 miles (132 miles in July)
I'm a little disappointed at my slower pace this month, but I mostly attribute that to one week that included an overheated run, an overly long run and a missed speed session. This weekend is my last 20-miler and I'm anxious to see how it compares to the one above.

Now, let's get back to that talk about beer. Last night, after my three-mile recovery run, I visited my local grocer for a beverage. And what did I spy with my cocked eye? Why a four-pack of Yeti Imperial Stout from the guys at the brewery of Great Divide. What this beer lacks in bargain basement pricing, it makes up for in rich flavor and a 9.5 percent ABV. This beer was perfect for a night by the fire.

Nice month. Hopefully you are feeling good with the increase. Do you think it is mainly from consistency?

Now that is a fine, fine brew. I'm drooling just thinking about it. (Night by the fire...ha ha ha. I know.)

I think 33 must mean something deep - like there should be 33 beers in a case - or you should do a 33-mile run...

Funny - I've had me some great runs lately - and I think I may attribute them to my having been drinking more margaritas rather than vodka tonics lately... I think there may be something to it.

I'm into Blue Moon's summer brew. yum.

why are you on your last 20-miler. sucks for me. Sunday was my 1st. My next two long ones are 22 and 24. marathon on oct 18th.

Nice job on the stupendous August mileage!

You doubled my monthly mileage. A four hour marathon should be no problem!

3 x 3 = 9, you ran 33 extra miles in the 9th month. All this means that you should run your marathon in a rolling rock shirt.
