After five days off from
the race, I concluded the month with a six-miler at 9:13 pace. May is done. Here is the statistical rundown:
- Total Miles: 81 miles (16 runs)
- Highest Weekly: 28 miles
- Average Weekly: 13.4 miles
- Average Pace: 9:19 per mile
- Longest/Fastest Run: 9 miles, 8:52 pace
- The Monthly Dif: +22 miles (59 miles in April)
Today marks my official start of marathon training. However, I am still constructing a training plan that will get me ready for a sub-four-hour effort at Akron and my ancillary
2009 race goals. For now, I will rehash my 5-K training. One change: I will mix in more 400-meter intervals during track sessions.
That's all you get today. Don't cry about it.

My eyes are dry, suprisingly. Good luck on your training!
Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays... or is still a little upset about the Cavs loss over the weekend.
Man, you set the bar high for June's mileage, didn't you?
Lovely 400 meter intervals...that should be fun.
Not a bad way to start marathon training! And I'm pretty sure your recent 5k time predicts a marathon well under 4 hours on all those, erm, highly accurate calculators.
I agree with BrianFlash, more 400m is never fun! that said, I think you will have some revenge and score your sub 4 hour marathon! now don't go proving me wrong like the Caves did...
I can cry about it if I want to...that said...I don't really want. But still.
Good luck with the extra 400s. Sounds super un-fun.
Just because you told us not to...
Wah.
Go Viper!
May you suffer as your heart desires!
