MonDaze: 100 Bullets

First of all, congratulations are in order. To me, for I survived my own birthday, didn't run into the law and managed to get in all my mileage. Second of all, thank you for all your welcomed good wishes and stated fellowship in boozing for Flag Day. I hope your weekend was almost as good as mine.

This Mondaze haze requires minimal cognitive strain and so I bring you ...

  • Although, I completed my planned mileage (plus one) this weekend, it was not in the form of the 16-miler on my schedule. I ran 10 miles in the hot afternoon right before my birthday dinner, which left me a bit delirious but plenty thirsty and hungry for the booze and giant burger that followed. I ran 7 miles Sunday night after all the Father's Day doings.
  • I love night runs. And I only had one driver honk at me.
  • One of my gifts was Bart Yasso's My Life on the Run. Expect a review whenever I feel like getting around to it.
  • I had to renew my driver's license this year. One of the questions the guy asked me was if I had a living will, which reminds me that we've begun final preparations for the Summer Solstice Challenge.
  • I checked the weather for Saturday: 79 degrees (that's Fahrenheit, for those of you not in the U.S.) with a "very high" UV index and 30 percent chance of rain.
  • I think I'm starting to get the fear.
  • My long runs have not been an exercise in good hydration strategy. That is to say, no hydration strategy.
  • A CamelBak is on its way. It's first run will be Saturday since it won't get here until Thursday. Smart, eh?
  • I'm headed to Las Vegas tonight for work. I don't need to pack on too many more miles before this weekend, but what could be better preparation for a long run in the heat than a run in the desert? I will try to be flexible and prudent while I'm away.
  • That said, posting will be minimal this week.
  • I now open the floor to bets as to how far I'll get Saturday before calling for a ride ... or paramedics.
  • Bullets 13-100 regarding the final countdown to the Summer Solstice Challenge found here.

Thank goodness bullets 13-100 were what they are. Otehrwise, my skipping them might have led me to make an asinine comment.

Enjoy your long, long run. If you survive, I hope to hear about it later.

I love my CamelBak waist pack. It's the best. Kind of makes me look like a dork with a fanny pack, but at least I'm a well-hydrated dork.

Stay cool in Las Vegas (hellhole).

Heh, I had a Gob Bluth reference in my post today too, and I'll be in Vegas this week as well.

May the force be with you.

I've always wanted to say that.

Screw betting on the SS challenge. How about betting on the possibility of you getting so drunk in Vegas that you wake up married to a stripper or Pamela Anderson. That was a bit redundant wasn't it?

Have fun in Sin City.

Dude. I would have emailed you directly but I don't have that info. There was a race on Saturday up here put on by Michigan Brewing Company. I couldn't go because I had an opera performance but OMG, a road race sponsored by a BREWING COMPANY? With "refreshments"? I will remember this for next year. It's only 30 minutes away from my house. It's like the nexus of the universe. Beer + running = nirvana. Seriously, remember this. Oh, and I'm going to be in NE Ohio this coming weekend for something and I want to do the "A Most Excellent Race" 5K at Beaumont School in Cleveland Heights...might I see you there?
