Testing, testing.
Is this thing on?
Well, I'm back. Whether you're still out there or not remains to be seen. Today begins a new year and marks a new beginning. That's the great thing about New Year's Day: You get to start fresh. And so, today, I began a new running streak.
As in years past, I finished off last year with one final run on New Year's Eve, putting my 2012 yearly total at 376 miles, and then I started 2013 with a run to celebrate the start of a new season of potential.
Yesterday's run was a few ticks shy of three miles, and my legs were feeling tired from churning out the distance across a fresh coat of snow here in Akron, Ohio. Today's run was a "shake out," but turned into an effort of more than three miles.
Once my legs started to feel loose, a thought crossed my mind: "Oh, yeah, I like doing this." Thus, 2013 begins with a feeling of optimism. Let's forgo any goals for now. There'll be plenty of time for that later. Today, let's just revel in the good vibe a run can bring on a cold day in January.
Happy New Year, dear readers.
