Flashback Friday: And Then it Got Cold

Snow, you white harbinger of death. Snow has dusted the landscape for the first time since early spring. When I heard about it in the weather forecast yesterday, no way did I think it had any chance of sticking. Boy, was I wrong. There it was this morning, covering rooftops and cars and bushes and the leaves on the ground.

As we have been doing the last couple weeks, the Missus and I snapped the dog into his leash and threw on our coats for a morning walk. A quarter of the way around the block and my lovely wife says it all, "And then it got cold."

Just a pair of days ago we had temperatures nearing 70 degrees on Fahrenheit's scale. Classic Ohio weather. This is "lake effect."

This is the weather I've been trying to prepare myself to run in, with my desire for a more consistent schedule of just getting out there.

This weekend's forecast promises warmer days, but I know this is more than just a preview of winter. I'll be resisting the heavier running clothes for as long as I can stand it.

Back Talk
Wherein we're crazy like a fox, like a fox in socks

Ironman By Thirty has mixed feelings about my recent footwear change: "I did a 5k a while back and there was a guy that showed up wearing only socks. Unlike you, he wasn't crazy, and had accidentally grabbed his son's shoes instead of his own which didn't fit him. He ended up running in the socks and PR-ed. Maybe you aren't so crazy after all ..."

Answer: What kind of socks was he wearing? I need to get some of those!

Happy Hour is nearly upon us, teammates! Have a finely brewed weekend. Run well and drink well. Cheers!

Have a great weekend! I think snowing is the perfect excuse for heavy drinking. Enjoy it.

It was 70 degrees here on Monday and now going down to 32 I think tonight. I had to break out the ol' fleece vest last night on my scary dark run.
