Emerging From Rest

Part of the reason for my unannounced absence was circumstantial, but part was just fatigue. We all need breaks from time to time, and it was time for me to take one. Or two, really, a break from blogging and a break from running.

You all know that I haven't posted since Tuesday of last week, but I also hadn't run since that post until last night. A sluggish and barefoot three-miler around the neighborhood knocked off some rust, but my motive was to enjoy the return of pleasant weather.

Northeast Ohio had been mired in an autumnal cold snap with days upon days of rain. Yesterday was sunny and comfortably cool. This is the best time of year for running.

October swoops in with nothing on the horizon. There are no plans at the moment. My legs feel healed from the marathon, and I'm looking forward to more running. Here is last month's statistical rundown:
  • Total Miles: 92 miles (10 runs)
  • Total Time: 17:38:21
  • Highest Weekly: 36 miles
  • Average Weekly: 23 miles
  • Average Pace: 11:30.23
  • The Monthly Dif: -13 miles (105 miles in August)
September, of course, included the Akron Marathon, which accounted for more than a quarter of my mileage for the month. After getting a little faster last month, I got slower again this month. If I want to set a new half marathon PR, I'm going to have to change that trend.

I'm going to rest. And drink beer outside.
