Delivery and Deflated Enthusiasm

Well, my stupid ass toe socks arrived yesterday, 14 days after placing the order. The only reason I got the fancy, expensive socks was to qualify for free shipping from Amazon, which is supposed to take five to eight business days. My socks took nine business days, not counting the day I actually placed the order.

My receipt said explicitly that they estimated delivery between Dec. 8 and Dec. 13, so one day late shouldn't make me too agitated, but it does. I waited eagerly for these socks. Of course, it turned out they had to split up my order, shipping my other two items well before my socks even left the West Coast, where they were shipped from Phoenix to Los Angeles before heading east.

From Dec. 4 to Dec. 11, the only tracking information available was a "Departure Scan" from L.A., before my package arrived in Pennsylvania. Seven days to cross the country? Come on, U.S. Postal Service, that's a shitty pace!

When I got home from work last night, the Enthusiast told me to look under the tree. There they were. I halfheartedly opened my brown box, removed the thin toe socks and tried one of them on.

Yep, they're toe socks. Kind of a pain in the ass to put on. These socks are thinner than the pair I ruined last week, so I figured they'd fit in my Vibrams. Satisfied with that estimation, I removed them and put my warm woolen socks back on my foot. Maybe I'll try the new ones with a run tonight. Maybe I'll just sit on the couch and pout.

Amazon won't be hiring you any time soon to write press releases!

Yeah, toe socks are a bitch to put on. So much so that if the weather is not cooperating you have plenty of time to reconsider going for that run.

Don't you know the fastest way to go east is to first go west for awhile?

No need to pout the socks have arrived! Now put them on and go for a run!

Stupid postal service. Not like they have a massive increase in business this time of year or anything. Wait a minute...

Props to the Enthusiast for putting the package under the tree and making your long awaited delivery special!

We have been noticing every package is taking longer this year. Someone had staffing cutbacks methinks.

That was possibly the least-uplifting post tone that I've ever heard, but that's not to say that I didn't enjoy reading it.

I bought toe-socks in high school before they were part of the Vibram revolution and they never felt nice. I just can't get comfortable with these things keeping my toes from touching one-another.
