Kick the Ottoman Across the Room

Time for bed. Lights out. Headlights sweep the dark room. Walk toward the window to see. Kick the ottoman across the room. Left toe no longer healed.

Self-inflicted sabotage is my new specialty. My toenail bent back at an improbable angle. Blood seeped from underneath. The Enthusiast cleaned and wrapped it for me last night.

Pain has subsided. The toe is swollen and tender. A shoe does not sound appealing. Flipflops for now. Five miles tonight may be done barefoot. Longer runs pose questions about proper soling for the rest of the week.

Ten miles tomorrow at tempo pace. Five hilly miles on Thursday. Ten more miles Saturday. Twenty on Sunday. Toe be damned.

Anybody know of some good running paths in Fort Wayne, Ind.?

Smooth move, Ex-Lax.

Did smashing your toe impede your ability to bend over and tend to it yourself? My condolences to the immensely considerate Enthusiast.

Dude. Time to stop with the toes. But how handy (har har) it is that you can run barefoot! Have a fun run.

If you want to even things out, you can leave your dresser drawer out, keep the lights off, and then ram your right knee into it 2 days before the marathon. Not that I would know from experience.

Dip your tow in Lake Erie to soothe it, and by that I mean a GLB Lake Erie Monster.

BTW, I sent you an email with my insider knowledge of the Ft. Wayne running and drinking scene.

Sucks about the toe. Ice it. Take a Vicodin and drink a beer. That'll numb the pain!

oh you poor guy. Hope your toe feels better! Be careful about running barefoot. I've tried it on the beach and I get blisters after 3 miles...

hope your toe improves...
