My weekly giant slalom interval improved by another 1:28 over last week. My goal is to keep my pace even on the downhill of Memorial Parkway and the flatland of the Towpath.
I bombed down at an 8:10 mile pace. I stopped for a quick drink of water at the entry to the Towpath and then ran an 8:11 mile out to my turnaround, followed by a 7:52 back to the bottom of the hill. Success!
My uphill pace is also slowly improving. My first attempt was roughly a 12:21 mile pace, and I ran up yesterday at a 10:44 pace.
My overall effort was a solid 8:50 per mile. I've also gotten better at not almost falling on the descent.
Back Talk
Wherein I get my own words thrown in my face. Who knew you people actually paid attention?
Xenia proves she knows how to dig up shit from the past in regard to my 60-mile goal: "Didn't you want to hit an average of 20 miles per week? If so, then your 60 mile May is insufficient. You suck big hairy monkey balls at math so I thought I'd help you out. No need to thank me."
Answer: No, I won't thank you, but a curse word comes to mind for reminding me of this post. My running log's "Yearly Goal Progress" reads -151.6 miles. My average weekly rate so far is 11.7 miles. If my math is anywhere near correct (unlikely), I will have to average 105.5 miles each month from here on out. Another curse word come to mind.
Happy Hour is nearly upon us, teammates. Have a finely brewed weekend. Run well and drink well. Cheers!

Sounds like nice progress to me. Have a great weekend!
Another curse word come to mind
"Fuck YEAH!"? Oh wait, that's two words. It's probably just "FUCK!" then.
I was going to hit a local watering hole for race packet pickup for the 5K I'm running tomorrow (note to race directors: having packet pickup at bar is an awesome idea). Unfortunately, race packet pickup was "canceled" due to "severe weather forecast." What the fuck ever. So I'm just going to go drink instead. It is going to be Happy Hour after all!
Sláinte!
Heh. This golden moment is going to keep me going during my 20 mile slog-fest in the rain this weekend. I guess I should probably thank you. Nah.
Have a good weekend.
Def progress. Have a great weekend!
You better get cracking on those miles if you need to start averaging 105 per month!
Beer and math do not mix...
