America Comes in Fourth

Now that you've all had time to digest after my epic race report on Saturday, let's move onto another, slightly more popular race: The Boston Marathon.

Kenya's Robert K. Cheruiyot ran a course record 2:05:52 to win, beating Ethiopians Tekeste Kebede and defending champ Deriba Merga. Ryan Hall finished fourth.

The Science of Sport covered the race live and has some cool analysis.

Team BHI has yet to receive updates from our teammates, listed in Friday's post. However, E-Speed has "Athlete Alerts" posting every 10-K. Sarah, Spike and AC all provided pre-race posts to peruse while you wait.

Congrats to you all! Remember that alcohol reduces pain and improves confidence. Cheers!

Amazing to watch the elites in this race. Can't believe the winner finished a full marathon 2 minutes faster than my fastest HALF marathon. I have a long way to go to be a Kenyan!

I was trying to find coverage on TV and could find none. Still amazes me that the biggest running event doesn't make it, but I guess we are a minority. I did follow a few friends though--it's so interesting to watch someones race unfold.

When I am riding my bike and I am logging 3 minute miles, with the wind rushing through my helmet, I often think of these Kenyans that can run nearly as fast as I am riding.
I ran the Bix many years ago and there where Kenyan athletes there running the race. The first finisher was crossing the finish line while I was just past the turn-around point.
WOW! That's all I can say.

It was quite a day. I'll get a race report up eventually.
