It's Back

The snow. The cold. The inhumanity of something altogether inhuman: the weather.

It amazes me how long it takes to acclimate to the cold, and how quickly that acclimation evaporates during an all-too-brief warm spell.

I ran in shorts this weekend. I wouldn't do that for the shortest of runs today. Or anytime in the forecastable future. And it's going to take a blizzard of motivation to get me out there this evening.

Three cheers for winter! ... anyone?

the first step is the chore. then that resistance melts and the reward comes to you.

Huzzah for Winter! That is, if I was even able to run outside right now. Stupid knee.

Sorry to hear that winter has returned, but at least now you have a legitimate excuse to not run!

Hey--You guys are based in Akron? I grew up in Ravenna and now live in Maryland (where winters are milder, thank you!). I'm excited to follow you exploits and I'll probably be asking for running/racing recommendations whenever I'm headed back that direction to visit family.

I'm pretty sure "winter" doesnt exist here in South Florida. :)

Yep. It was mighty cold for my workday four-miler. 25 degrees and a wind in my face on the way back that could freeze the tits off a witch. Or something to that effect. Nevertheless, I was out there in my heartiest jacket pounding pavement...Boston awaits. No rest for the winter-weary, unfortunately.

One of the few things that keeps me heading out the door of my office building is the look I get from my co-workers. It's that "Oh my god...you're f@rking nuts" look.

I can't help it...I enjoy feeling like a bit of a hardcore badass. I sit in a cubicle all day; this is my only change to shake that image.

I warmed up after work with a Dark Horse Blueberry Stout. Ahhhh.

Sláinte!

After the run, yesterday I tried Founder's Breakfast Stout. Pretty nice.

I'm glad we don't have snow because I hate running in anything less than 40 degrees.

Yeah, winter came back here in foul mood also. It takes everything I have to make it out for just some base mileage. Thank the Lord for sour mash!

I am stuck in North Dakota for work. Last week it was somewhat OK to run out side. Well that bitch mother nature threw a load of snow and a bunch of wind. Now it is snow covered and so cold that only guys like "ED" and "Bob" can write their names in the snow. The windchill is negative. I can't stand but about 30 mintues on a treadmill. NO MOTIVATION. Ready to go back to Louisiana where it is nice.

It was just below freezing the other morning and some nutjob was riding a bike in only a t-shirt, shorts and gardening gloves. The Brits are crazy.
