Of Sore Throats and Cookies

After the euphoria of a rare Cleveland Browns win wore off, I noticed a tickle in my throat and a chill in my bones. As the day wore on, the tickle turned to soreness and I was dealing with ceaseless fever chills.

My Friday night consisted of going home and napping on the couch for a couple hours. I woke up and ate some delicious homemade soup and felt revived, but tossed and turned through the night while sweating more than a midsummer night's tempo run.

I've been pushing fluids, including a whole bottle of Simply Orange juice, and sucking down Alka-Seltzer flu gel capsules since Saturday morning, but my sore throat persists. Perhaps you may have already guessed that I ditched running this weekend.

Usually, a sickly weekend means I'll drop a few pounds from poor appetite and perspiration. Instead, I gobbled about a dozen cookies and several Fannie May chocolates on Sunday and undid another notch on the belt. I'm just about ready for winter hibernation.

Flu seems to be going around on both sides of the pond. A friend had been battling it for a week (lost a total of six pounds) and still ran on Sunday. Crazy bastard.

Hope you feel better soon.

Good thinking on the cookies. Don't want to get cold.

Yeah, I can't believe the Browns won, and against Pttsburgh too! Amazing. I'm sure that hell had similar weather to Akron on that day!

Rest up and feel better soon!

Ick. I had the same sore throat/cold the past two weeks. Hope you're taking better care of yourself than I did and you get better much quicker!
