Flashback Friday: Be Seen or Be Slain

Twice this week it happened. Driving home from work, I saw some runners whom I almost didn't see. Obviously, these jokers need a brush-up on my Winter Running Rules, specifically No. 6.

As a runner, I like to think I'm fairly cautious about looking out for fellow runners when I'm driving. You know, do unto others? Namely, don't squash a runner with your right front fender if you yourself would prefer not to be squashed by another driver's right front fender.

One of these runners I saw actually was wearing a reflective vest, but he was still a bit difficult to see. It should go as a warning that you should do your best to be as visible as possible, but remain aware that sometimes your efforts are still not enough.

Be careful out there. I hate when my readers die off.

Back Talk
Wherein we consider the spiritual path of the Ninja.

FunnyRunner swats a nunchaku at my Ninja running style: "Maybe you're just thinking about it too much. Just run, man. Think about something else ..."

Answer: How Zen. Do Ninjas follow Zen? Or would that make me a Samurai? That could be a Haiku.

Happy Hour is nearly upon us, teammates. Don't spend your weekend in the drunk tank. Run well and drink well. Cheers!

lol. gosh. good thing I checked in; you're talking about me behind my back.

I am WAY guilty of being an endangered killed off reader. I am SO BAD at running in the dark. I just stay as close to the side as I can and get ready to lunge into the grass on the side of the road at any given moment. No light, no reflector vest. sheeeut. I don't even think my jacket has a reflector tape on it - my gloves don't either. I suck. I live dangerously.

Yet, I've never had a close call at night. My closest call was when I was running in broad daylight in London where they drive on the goddamned wrong side of the road. I looked LEFT before stepping off of the curb into the road and a car just about made me into pancake coming from the direction I didn't expect...

Well, off I go to run in the dark again. (Oh - I have tripped on a sidewalk slab of cement that was sticking up where it didn't belong and fallen flat on my face at night, too. that sucked).

Maybe if I would've stopped reading blogs awhile ago it wouldn't be dark now. geez.

hey btw. I've been a terrible blog reader lately; have you done your fall marathon yet? Hope it goes or went well!

Yeah, it would be bad karma to run over a fellow runner.

I'm all about the reflective gear in the winter. I look like a mis-matched tool inside, but I'm full of shinny reflecting light when I'm outside.

I nearly kill people in my car on a monthly basis (used to be weekly but I've gotten used to moving around to check blind spots). Word to the wise...if ever you are running and see a FJ Cruiser, assume they don't see you. That thing has more blind spots.

i pass a guy like everyday on my way home from work. the first few times i didn't notice him until i was right up on him even though he was wearing a vest and a flashing necklace thing. now i am more cautious since i see him regularly but for pete's sakes - i think he needs a strobe light or something!

So does the blog silence mean this week's Flashback Friday is going to be a blank post? Totally meta, dude.
