Let's Talk About the Weather, Shall We?

Some people like to complain about people who complain about the weather, but we're just going to ignore those people. Because, seriously guys, the weather sucks.

Last night, my phone lit up with a winter advisory for our region, which last time I looked was three days from the official start of spring. Bring on the freezing rain and more snow for my morning commute!

Immediately upon entering the highway, traffic was backed up behind twin police cars blocking the passing the lane. (That's the leftmost lane for those of you who don't know how to drive.) Just beyond the police cars was a smashed car, which I'm guessing the driver lost control on the icy road and careened into the median divider. It wasn't pretty.

And yes, I'm well aware that there are some strange countries where motorists drive on the left, but we're not those countries. Quit interrupting, please.

For the past week or so, I've gotten into the habit of getting up early enough to take the dog for a walk, but not so early as to leave for work on time. This morning was no exception, except that, hello, the ice? So we didn't walk.

Yesterday, the dog and I took a longer than average stroll around the neighborhood, and would you believe my calves actually feel a bit — not sore exactly — but you know I feel them? These walks and a few push-ups here and there have been the extent of my exercise since that glorious run last weekend.

My diet has been for shit. I stepped on the scale yesterday and holy crap. The number was higher than it's been in several years. Girl Scouts of America, you are to blame. Also, Malley's, you too.

This is sort of a downward spiral. Bad weather, lack of motivation, inertia, bad food, weight gain, inertia, more bad weather, and now it's like the immovable object over here.

In conclusion, I really want to buy a pull-up bar. Do any of you have any recommendations? (Specifically, I'm looking at this or this.)

I don't live in your frozen northern urban grayscape, but its too cold/windy/rainy here in the southern woods and I'm bitching. Just got off the phone with a colleague from London and we've agreed the best bet is to short spring and go long winter. I hope we lose that bet.

LOL thanks for endorsing my whining about the weather. It really has been miserable as all hell. The blizzard hitting us right now, FML!!!

Here's hoping we see this "spring" everyone keeps telling us is coming. Preferably before I head there for my marathon next month.

I use an Iron Gym, $20 at Dick's or Target and it's great. My diet also went to shit this weekend so I just skipped the MMNW this morning. it was going to be way too embarrasing.

This weekend we ended up in DC, where it felt like winter still. NC was 70* when we left and DC was 52* when we got there. suck it, cold. I didn't run any while up there anyway. Hold out a bit longer while working out the diet plan and warmer days will bring more runnning.

There was unexpected snow in the county north of me yesterday. They only got a dusting but it still caused all hell to break loose. Ah, the English.

Also, I'm thinking of going for a UK driver's license soon. Nothing could go wrong during that road test, right?

"Always blame the Girl Scouts" -- that's my motto!

Those little devils got me too with their Thin Mints and Somoas and Mango Coconut Creme thingys. I wondered why I ran those most in a week that I have ever run and I'm higher in weight than before.

Buy a pull up bar? Seriously? The guy who makes his own hippie shoes is going to BUY something that you can make for next to nothing?!?!? hahaha. I made mine with some threaded pipe and flanges and screwed it to the floor joists in the basement next to the treadmill.
